Why choose us

Since childhood, Jennifer R. Mendelsohn, principal interior designer, of J. Rhodes Interior Design, has been sketching and color coordinating design schemes for her own spaces. Her passion for design is reflected in the reputation she has built, over the last 25 years, in achieving highly individual and unique results for a discerning Charleston design clientele. At J. Rhodes Interior Design the design philosophy we follow, rooted in purpose and function is to create spaces that reflect the spirit of our client's lifestyle.

A Charleston native and professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Jennifer founded J. Rhodes Interior Design over 15 years ago. Through the years, and with countless completed design projects, her practical methodology and solid business acumen has garnered a loyal following among a prominent client base. Jennifer is certified by the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) whose core purpose is to protect the health, life safety and welfare of the public by establishing standards of competence in the practice of interior design. Advancing the profession of interior design, she has served in multiple leadership capacities within the Carolinas Chapter ASID including financial director and past president.

Jennifer received her interior design training at Winthrop University where she earned a BFA in Interior Design. Upon graduation, she returned to Charleston, South Carolina to cultivate her skills as a professional designer within two successful interior design firms. In 2002, she launched her own firm, J. Rhodes Interior Design, Inc. and in 2017 opened the luxury home furnishings boutique, Hampton Home. Her consistent educational endeavors including global travel, multi-discipline networking, and participating in national interior design industry events ensures that the highest standards of design are maintained. This seamless blending of multiple interests allows Jennifer to offer her clients exclusive access to leading suppliers and offers furniture and fabrics from distinctive to the trade sources.
